Brookfields Hawke's Bay Cabernet Merlot is made by Brookfields Vineyards, a long-established winery at Meeanee near Napier. It blends Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the classic Bordeaux grapes that thrive in Hawke's Bay's warm, dry climate.

Brookfields Hawke's Bay Cabernet Merlot is best served at room temperature, around 16 to 18°C. Decanting for 45 minutes to an hour softens the tannins and opens the fruit, and a large Bordeaux-style glass suits it well.

Brookfields Hawke's Bay Cabernet Merlot typically tastes of blackcurrant, plum and dark berries with cedar, tobacco and a hint of mint. It is medium to full-bodied with firm tannins and a savoury finish. Fruit and oak character vary a little by vintage, and a few years in bottle softens the tannins and adds savoury depth.
