About Angostura
Dr Johann Siegert developed his aromatic bitters in 1824 in the town of Angostura, Venezuela, and his sons later moved the business to Trinidad, where it is still based in Port of Spain. The company added rum after buying Fernandes Distillers in 1973. The 1824 rum is named after the year the bitters were first made and is a blend aged at least 12 years.
How to Enjoy Angostura
A few dashes of aromatic bitters are essential in an old fashioned, a Manhattan or a pink gin. Orange bitters suit a martini, and Cocoa bitters go well in rum or whisky cocktails. Sip the 1824 and 1787 neat, and use the 5 and 7 year old rums in a daiquiri or rum punch.
