About Beefeater

James Burrough bought a London distillery in 1863 and created the Beefeater recipe. It is still made in London using nine botanicals, including juniper, Seville orange peel and lemon peel, which are steeped in the spirit for 24 hours before distillation. The style is juniper-forward with bright citrus.

How to Enjoy Beefeater

Beefeater is a classic choice for a gin and tonic with a slice of lemon or orange, a dry martini, a negroni or a Tom Collins. The copa glass in the gift pack is made for a long, ice-filled G and T.

Beefeater FAQs

Where is Beefeater Gin made?

Beefeater is distilled in Kennington, London, and is one of the few major London Dry gins still made in the city. The recipe dates back to James Burrough in the 1860s.

What botanicals are in Beefeater?

Beefeater uses nine botanicals, including juniper, Seville orange peel, lemon peel, coriander seed, angelica and liquorice. They are steeped for 24 hours before distillation, giving a citrus and juniper-led gin.

What is a London Dry gin?

London Dry is a style, not a location. The flavour must come from botanicals during distillation, with no added flavouring or colour afterwards. Beefeater is a London Dry that is also made in London.
