About Carolans

Carolans was created in 1978 and is named after Turlough O'Carolan, a 17th century Irish harpist. Its recipe uses honey, a link to Clonmel in Tipperary, whose Irish name means vale of honey. The brand has been owned by Heaven Hill since 2017.

How to Enjoy Carolans

Pour Carolans over ice, add it to hot coffee or hot chocolate, or mix it into a mudslide or a B52 style layered shot. It goes well with cheesecake, brownies and ice cream. Keep it in a cool place, out of direct sunlight, once opened.

Carolans FAQs

What is in Carolans Irish Cream?

Carolans combines Irish spirits, including Irish whiskey, with fresh dairy cream and honey. The honey is a defining part of the recipe and gives it a slightly lighter, sweeter flavour than some other Irish creams.

What is the difference between Carolans Irish Cream and Salted Caramel?

The Irish Cream is the original honey and cream recipe. The Salted Caramel version adds caramel and a touch of salt, giving a richer, dessert-like flavour that suits ice cream and coffee.

How long does Carolans keep after opening?

Like most cream liqueurs, Carolans keeps for months once opened if stored in a cool, dark place, and many people keep it in the fridge. Check the best before date on the bottle and do not use it if it separates or smells sour.
