About Flor de Caña

Rum has been made on the estate in Chichigalpa, western Nicaragua, since 1890, and the Flor de Caña name dates from 1937. The cane grows near the San Cristóbal volcano, and the rum is aged on site in ex-bourbon American oak barrels.

How to Enjoy Flor de Caña

Mix the 4 Year Old in a daiquiri or mojito, and the 7 with cola or in an old fashioned. Sip the 12, 18 and 25 neat or over a large ice cube with dark chocolate or roasted nuts.

Flor de Caña FAQs

Where is Flor de Caña made?

Flor de Caña is made in Chichigalpa, Nicaragua, on a single estate near the San Cristóbal volcano. Cane growing, molasses, distillation and barrel ageing all happen at the same site, so it is called a single-estate rum.

What is the difference between the 4, 7 and 12 Year Old?

The 4 Year Old Extra Seco is a light, dry rum for cocktails. The Gran Reserva 7 is darker, with more oak and caramel. The 12 Year Old spends longer in barrel and is usually sipped.

What does Flor de Caña taste like?

The style is dry and clean rather than sweet, with vanilla, toffee and oak from the bourbon barrels. Older expressions such as the 18 and 25 Year Old show more dried fruit, spice and toasted wood.
