About Herradura
Casa Herradura sits in Amatitán, Jalisco, on the Hacienda San José del Refugio, and 1870 is the date the brand gives for its start. Herradura credits itself with releasing the first reposado tequila, in 1974. The distillery is owned by Brown-Forman.
How to Enjoy Herradura
Use the Plata in a margarita or paloma. Sip the Reposado neat or on ice, or try it in a tequila old fashioned. Keep Legend, Ultra Añejo and Selección Suprema for slow sipping with grilled meats, mole, or dark chocolate after dinner.
Herradura FAQs
Where is Herradura tequila made?
Herradura is made at Casa Herradura in Amatitán, in the Mexican state of Jalisco, on the Hacienda San José del Refugio. The brand dates its origins to 1870 and still produces at the same estate.
What is the difference between Plata, Reposado and Añejo?
Plata is a silver tequila with only a short rest in oak. Reposado is aged for longer in barrels, gaining vanilla and spice, and Añejo spends longer again for deeper oak and caramel flavours.
What is Herradura Ultra Añejo?
Ultra Añejo is aged tequila that is filtered after ageing to remove the colour, so it pours clear. It keeps much of the oak and vanilla character, with a lighter feel than a dark añejo.
