About Remy Martin
Rémy Martin was founded in 1724 in the Cognac region. It uses grapes from Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, two of the six Cognac growing areas, and at least half of each blend comes from Grande Champagne. The 1738 name refers to the year King Louis XV allowed the house to plant new vines.
How to Enjoy Remy Martin
Sip VSOP neat, over ice or in a sidecar. The 1738 Accord Royal and XO are best neat in a tulip glass, with a splash of water if you like. Try them with dark chocolate, roasted nuts or a mild hard cheese.
Remy Martin FAQs
What does Fine Champagne cognac mean?
Fine Champagne is a cognac blended only from Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne grapes, with at least half from Grande Champagne. It has nothing to do with sparkling Champagne wine.
What is the difference between VSOP and XO?
VSOP blends must be aged at least four years in oak, and XO blends at least ten years. XO tastes richer and deeper, with more dried fruit and spice, while VSOP is lighter and fruitier.
What is Rémy Martin 1738 Accord Royal?
1738 Accord Royal is a Fine Champagne cognac that sits between VSOP and XO in the range. It is named after the 1738 royal decree from Louis XV that let the house plant new vineyards.
