About Carpano

Antonio Benedetto Carpano flavoured white wine with herbs and spices in Turin in 1786, creating the vermouth style. Vermouth is wine fortified with spirit, sweetened, and infused with botanicals. Carpano is now owned by Fratelli Branca of Milan.

How to Enjoy Carpano

Serve vermouth chilled over ice with a slice of orange or lemon, or top with soda. Classico suits a negroni or Manhattan, Dry a martini, and Bianco a spritz with tonic. Pair with olives, salumi and parmesan.

Carpano FAQs

What is vermouth?

Vermouth is a fortified wine flavoured with herbs, spices and roots, and usually sweetened. It is drunk as an aperitif and is a key ingredient in cocktails such as the negroni and martini.

What is the difference between Carpano Classico, Bianco and Dry?

Classico is a red, sweet vermouth with herbal and spice notes. Bianco is a white, sweet vermouth with floral and vanilla notes. Dry is less sweet and crisp, made for martinis.

How long does vermouth keep once opened?

Vermouth is wine-based, so it loses freshness once opened. Keep the bottle sealed in the fridge and drink it within about a month for the best flavour.
