About J. Painturaud
The Painturaud family grows Ugni Blanc grapes on its own Grande Champagne vineyard around Segonzac, distils on the estate and ages its Cognacs in Limousin oak. Four brothers, the fourth generation, took over in 2010.
How to Enjoy J. Painturaud
Serve the XO and Réserve neat in a tulip glass at room temperature, perhaps with dark chocolate, walnuts or blue cheese. The VSOP can be sipped neat, over ice, or used in a Sidecar.
J. Painturaud FAQs
What is Grande Champagne Cognac?
Grande Champagne is the premier cru of the Cognac region, around Segonzac. Its chalky soils give eaux-de-vie that age slowly and develop delicate, floral character. It has nothing to do with the Champagne wine region.
Who makes J. Painturaud Cognac?
It is made by the Painturaud family in Segonzac, who grow their own grapes, distil and age the Cognac on their estate. The house is now run by the fourth generation, four brothers.
What is the difference between the VSOP and XO?
VSOP Cognac must be aged at least four years in oak and XO at least ten. The Painturaud XO is richer and more complex, while the Band of 4 Brothers VSOP is fresher and fruitier.
