About Meukow
Meukow dates back to the nineteenth century, when the house was set up in Cognac to supply brandy to the Russian court. It is now run by the Compagnie de Guyenne, under the Coste family since 1979. The panther emblem and its moulded bottle date from the 1990s and stand for strength and suppleness. VSOP is aged at least four years and XO at least ten.
How to Enjoy Meukow
Serve the VSOP over a large ice cube or with ginger ale, or use it in a sidecar. Sip the XO neat from a tulip glass after dinner, with dark chocolate, nuts or a cheese board. Xpresso works in an espresso martini, and the Vanilla and Wildberry liqueurs suit desserts or a splash over ice cream.
Meukow FAQs
Where is Meukow Cognac made?
Meukow Cognac comes from the Cognac region of south-west France. Like all Cognac, it is double distilled from white grapes grown in the region's defined areas and aged in French oak casks.
What is the difference between Meukow VSOP and XO?
VSOP must be aged at least four years in oak and is smooth and fruity, good neat or mixed. XO must be aged at least ten years, giving deeper notes of dried fruit, spice and oak for slow sipping.
Why is there a panther on Meukow bottles?
The panther is Meukow's emblem, introduced in the 1990s with the brand's moulded bottle. The house says it represents the strength and suppleness of its Cognac, and it makes the bottles easy to recognise.
