Meukow XO Cognac 700ml is an extra old Cognac from the House of Meukow, blended from eaux-de-vie grown in Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne together with Fins Bois and Bons Bois. Like all Cognac it is distilled twice in traditional copper pot stills, then aged in oak barrels for many years before blending, and it is bottled at 40% ABV.

The House of Meukow was founded in 1862 and has been owned by the Coste family since 1979. Its bottles carry a panther emblem, which has become the symbol of the house, and the XO wears it in gold on a dark bottle.
The XO blend draws on crus with different characters. Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne eaux-de-vie bring richness and floral notes and are known for ageing slowly, while Fins Bois and Bons Bois add rounder fruit. Under Cognac rules, every eau-de-vie in an XO must have spent at least ten years in oak, and the Meukow blend includes spirits that have aged for a long time in barrel, which gives it its deep mahogany colour and silky texture.
Pour Meukow XO neat into a tulip glass or snifter at room temperature and give it a few minutes to open up. A few drops of water can bring the fruit forward. It sits well with dark chocolate, roasted nuts, a cheeseboard with aged hard cheeses, or a fruit tart after dinner.
