Description
Cardhu 12YO 700ml is a 12-year-old Speyside single malt Scotch whisky from Cardhu Distillery, set on Mannoch Hill above the River Spey. Its roots go back to John and Helen Cumming, who distilled on their farm before taking out a licence in 1824.
Two women shaped its early history. Helen ran much of the early operation, and her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Cumming later took charge and rebuilt on new land in 1885. Johnnie Walker and Sons bought the distillery in 1893, leaving the family to run it day to day, and Cardhu remains an important part of Johnnie Walker blends today.

The distillery’s owner suggests serving it neat or over ice, and a little water brings out malt and soft spice. It suits a salmon dish, a pear tart or a mild blue cheese.

Pear drops, heather, resin and sweet honey-nut notes fill the nose. The medium body is soft and well balanced, opening sweet and fresh before a drying finish with a trace of sweet smoke.
