Monkey 47 Dry Gin 500ml is Monkey 47 Schwarzwald Dry Gin, made in Germany’s Black Forest from 47 botanicals and bottled at 47% ABV. About a third of the botanicals come from the Black Forest itself, including spruce shoots, and many are used fresh rather than dried. Lingonberries, macerated before distillation, are the gin’s signature ingredient.

The recipe traces back to Montgomery Collins, a former RAF Wing Commander who settled in the Black Forest after the Second World War. Alexander Stein revived the idea decades later, working with distiller Christoph Keller.
Mix it with a light tonic and a twist of grapefruit or lemon, or stir it into a Dry Martini or Negroni where the botanicals have room to show. It also pairs well with smoked fish, cured meats and herby salads.
