Oban 14YO 700ml is a 14 year old West Highland single malt Scotch whisky from Oban Distillery, which sits in the harbour town of Oban on Scotland’s west coast. Matured for at least 14 years in oak casks and bottled at 43% ABV, it balances rich fruit and malt with a hint of sea salt and smoke.

The distillery was founded in 1794 by brothers John and Hugh Stevenson, and unusually the town grew up around it rather than the other way round. Today it is one of the smallest working distilleries in Scotland, hemmed in by the town and the cliffs behind it.
Oban runs just two small pot stills, and the spirit is condensed in traditional wooden worm tubs, a method few Scottish distilleries still use. The slow condensing helps give the whisky its rich, fruity character. Since the late 1980s Oban 14 has represented the West Highlands in Diageo’s Classic Malts range.
Pour it neat into a tulip glass and add a few drops of water to bring out the honey and citrus. It pairs well with smoked fish, seafood, a mature cheddar or dried figs after dinner, and also suits a single large ice cube.
