Gold Rum FAQs
What does Carta Oro mean on Bacardi?
Carta Oro means gold label in Spanish. It is Bacardi's gold rum, aged in oak for a little more colour and flavour than Carta Blanca, with vanilla and light caramel notes that suit mixing.
How do you drink gold rum?
Gold rum works well with cola, ginger beer or pineapple juice, and in cocktails like a daiquiri or mai tai. Smoother bottles can also be sipped over ice to bring out the vanilla and toffee notes.
Is gold rum aged?
Most gold rums are aged for a short time in oak barrels, which gives the amber colour and softer flavour. Some brands also adjust colour with caramel, so the shade alone does not tell you the age.
