Description
Louis Roederer Carte Blanche 750ml is a demi-sec Champagne from Louis Roederer in Reims, made from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier. It shares its blend with the house’s Collection wine, and the difference comes at the final stage, when a sweeter dosage is added. The result is a Champagne with noticeable sweetness, held in check by fresh acidity.

Chill it well, to around 6 to 8 degrees, and pour it into a tulip glass. Vanilla desserts and fruit tarts are natural partners, and it also works with foie gras or a blue-veined cheese, where the sweetness meets salt and richness.
- Demi-sec, the sweeter end of the Champagne range
- Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier blend
- Shares its blend with Roederer Collection
Baked apple, almond and frangipane lead the aromas, with white flowers and honey behind them. The palate is creamy and rounded, and the fresh acidity keeps the finish from feeling heavy.
Part of the blend comes from reserve wines matured in oak tuns, a practice the house uses to add depth before the wines go to bottle. The wine then spends roughly three to four years in Roederer’s cellars before it is released for sale. Sweeter styles have deep roots at this house: even Cristal began as a sweet wine before moving to a dry style, and Carte Blanche keeps a sweeter option in the current range.
Louis Roederer began as Dubois Père & Fils in 1776 and took its current name in 1833, when Louis Roederer inherited the business from his uncle. The house is still independent, led by the Rouzaud family, and it grows about two-thirds of the grapes it needs on its own 240 hectares.
A good match for anyone looking for a Champagne to serve with dessert rather than before dinner.
