Deanston 12YO Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml is an unpeated Highland single malt from Deanston Distillery, near the village of Doune in Perthshire. It is matured for at least 12 years in first-fill and refill ex-bourbon casks, and bottled at 46.3% ABV without chill filtration or added colour.
The distillery has an unusual home. It sits on the banks of the River Teith inside a former cotton mill built in 1785, which was converted into a distillery in 1966. The old mill’s weaving sheds now serve as warehouses, and the distillery still uses the river to generate its own electricity.

Deanston uses unpeated Scottish barley, so the 12 year old shows the house style clearly: malty, honeyed and gently fruity, with the bourbon casks adding vanilla and toasted oak. Bottling at 46.3% without chill filtration keeps a creamy, mouth-filling texture.

The nose opens with fresh hay and malty cereal, followed by creamy toffee and heather honey, with sweet oak, barley sugar and a faint lemon oil note developing in the glass. The palate is creamy, with honeycomb, soft vanilla, malt biscuit, toasted oak and honeyed spice. The finish is crisp and dry, with a tingle of cloves.
