Gentleman Jack 1750ml is a Tennessee whiskey from the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee, USA. It is made like Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7, but it is charcoal mellowed twice, once before ageing and again after, which gives it a softer, rounder character. It is bottled at 40% ABV.

Jack Daniel’s dates its Lynchburg distillery to 1866, and its whiskey is made from a mash of about 80% corn, 12% malted barley and 8% rye. Like all Tennessee whiskey, the new spirit is filtered through sugar maple charcoal before going into new charred American oak barrels, a step known as the Lincoln County Process.
Gentleman Jack, introduced in 1988, adds a second pass through maple charcoal once the whiskey has matured. This extra mellowing takes some of the heavier oak and grain edges off and lets fruit, vanilla and caramel come forward.
The whiskey matures in Jack Daniel’s barrelhouses in the hills around Lynchburg, where warm summers and cool winters move the spirit in and out of the charred oak, drawing out colour and sweetness.
Pour it neat or over ice to enjoy its soft texture, or add a splash of water. It also makes a mellow Old Fashioned or a whiskey and ginger ale, and pairs well with barbecue, glazed ham or pecan pie.
