Huntaway Reserve Syrah 750ml

Huntaway Reserve Syrah is a Hawke's Bay Syrah from the Huntaway label, part of its Reserve range. Hawke's Bay grows most of New Zealand's Syrah, and the region is known for a peppery, savoury style that differs from riper Australian Shiraz.

Huntaway Reserve Syrah is best served at cool room temperature, around 16 to 18°C, in a large red wine glass. Opening the bottle or decanting it a little before dinner helps the dark fruit and pepper notes come forward.

Huntaway Reserve Syrah tastes of blackberry, plum and black pepper, typically with a touch of violet and spice. It is medium-bodied, with fine tannins, fresh acidity and a savoury finish that suits food well. Exact flavours can vary a little from one vintage to the next.

Huntaway Reserve Syrah goes well with lamb, venison and other richly flavoured meats. Try it with a rosemary-crusted lamb rack, slow-cooked venison with mushrooms, or a peppered beef fillet, where its savoury, peppery side matches the seasoning.
