Description
Loch Lomond Signature 700ml is a blended Scotch whisky from a single site: the label states it is distilled, blended and bottled at the Loch Lomond Distillery. After initial maturation the blend is married and conditioned in a solera of oloroso sherry casks and recharred American oak casks, which is what gives it its dried-fruit depth.
A solera is an ongoing set of casks that is partly emptied and topped up rather than drained, so each batch carries some of the one before it. It is the defining feature of this bottling.

Serve it neat or with a splash of water to appreciate the sherry side, or pour it over ice. It also holds up well in a whisky and ginger, and goes nicely with dark chocolate or a fruit cake.

The nose leans towards fortified wine, with plump sultana and subtle sherry. On the palate there is malt, ripe pear, cinnamon, ginger and dark sugar, and the finish moves from dried fruit to a tart lemon note.
