Penfolds Bin 23 Pinot Noir 750ml

Penfolds Bin 23 Pinot Noir takes its name from Cellar 23 at Penfolds' Magill Estate in Adelaide, where it was originally stored. First made in 2009 from Adelaide Hills fruit, it now draws mainly on Tasmania, the Adelaide Hills and Henty in Victoria.

Penfolds Bin 23 Pinot Noir is best served slightly cool, around 15 to 16°C, in a large Burgundy-style glass. A short spell in the fridge on a warm day helps, and swirling the glass lifts its red fruit and spice aromas.

Penfolds Bin 23 Pinot Noir typically tastes of strawberry, red cherry and pomegranate with spice and cola notes. It is medium-bodied and generous, with fine tannins, bright acidity and a lingering spicy finish. The balance of fruit and savoury notes varies a little by vintage, and bottle age adds more earthy complexity.

Penfolds Bin 23 Pinot Noir goes well with roast duck, crispy-skin salmon and mushroom dishes. It is also a good match for pork belly, Peking-style duck pancakes and soft cheeses such as brie. Its fresh acidity and gentle tannins make it a very versatile red at the table.
