Redbreast 21YO 700ml is a 21 year old Irish single pot still whiskey from the Redbreast family, produced at Midleton Distillery in County Cork. Single pot still whiskey is a style unique to Ireland, made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley and triple distilled in copper pot stills. The unmalted barley is what gives the style its creamy texture and spicy edge.
For this expression, the whiskey is matured in a combination of American bourbon barrels and first fill Spanish oloroso sherry casks for at least 21 years. Some older casks are included in the vatting to add depth and balance the sherry influence. It is bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration, which helps keep the natural oils and texture of a long-aged pot still whiskey intact.
