Polish Vodka FAQs
What is bison grass vodka?
Bison grass vodka is vodka flavoured with a blade of bison grass, a wild grass from eastern Poland. Zubrowka is the classic example, with a soft vanilla and hay-like aroma and a blade of grass in every bottle.
How do you drink Zubrowka?
In Poland it is often mixed with cloudy apple juice, a pairing locals call Szarlotka after the apple cake. It also works neat and well chilled, which lets the gentle herbal notes come through.
Is Polish vodka made from potatoes?
Some is, but not all. Polish producers use rye, wheat and potatoes, and each gives a slightly different texture. Check the label of each bottle, as the base ingredient is usually stated there.
