Glengoyne distillery sits at Dumgoyne, just north of Glasgow, and has been licensed to distil since 1833. The stills sit on the Highland side of the Highland Line, which is why Glengoyne is classed as a Highland malt. The distillery uses unpeated, air-dried barley and runs its stills slowly, which the team credits for the fruity, clean character of the spirit. Ian Macleod Distillers has owned Glengoyne since 2003.
The Legacy Series was created to mark people and moments from the distillery’s past, with each chapter drawing on a different part of its history. Chapter Three closed the series and is bottled at a higher strength than the core range, giving it more weight and texture in the glass.
Serve it neat in a nosing glass, then add a few drops of water to bring out the spice and fruit. It pairs well with apple tart, spiced fruit cake or a mature cheddar.

Expect cinnamon, vanilla and berry jam on the nose with apple and pear. The palate is rich and chewy, with raisins, spiced buns, tarte tatin and cream sherry, and the finish moves through pineapple and dried fruit to dark chocolate and lingering spice.
