Jura Tide 21YO 700ml 2022 is a 21-year-old single malt from Jura distillery, part of the Rare and Aged collection. It is matured in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels, then finished in hand-selected virgin American white oak casks, and bottled at 46.7% ABV without chill filtration or added colour.

Jura distillery sits beside the shore on the Isle of Jura, a small Hebridean island off Scotland’s west coast. It was founded in 1810, closed in 1901 and rebuilt and reopened in 1963. Its stills are among the tallest in Scotland, and that extra copper contact helps create a fruity, aromatic spirit.
Tide sits in Jura’s Rare and Aged collection, the oldest whiskies the distillery releases. Its name draws on island life, where the rhythm of the tide marks time. The final stage in virgin American white oak, wood that has not held any other spirit, gives a fresh layer of spice and vanilla on top of two decades in ex-bourbon barrels. The result is sweet, fruity and nutty, with a warm, spicy edge from the new wood. Jura has been owned by Whyte and Mackay since 1994, alongside The Dalmore and Fettercairn, and its water comes from rain and snowmelt that filter through rock on the island’s high ground into Market Loch.
Serve it neat in a tasting glass and add a drop of water if you like. It pairs well with gingerbread, almond cake or white chocolate.
