The Macallan Harmony Collection III 2023 is Amber Meadow, the third release in The Macallan’s Harmony Collection, created in collaboration with designers Stella and Mary McCartney. This Speyside single malt was matured in sherry-seasoned oak and bourbon casks, takes its inspiration from Scottish grasslands, and is bottled at 44.2% ABV.

The Macallan is based at Easter Elchies, near Craigellachie in Speyside, and has made whisky since 1824. The distillery is known for its small, curiously shaped copper stills and for its long tradition of maturing whisky in sherry-seasoned oak casks, both European and American, which give its single malts their rich, fruity style. The distillery is owned by the Edrington group, and a new production site on the estate, designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, opened in 2018.
The Harmony Collection pairs an unexpected flavour theme with more sustainable packaging. After Rich Cacao and Intense Arabica, Amber Meadow turned to the meadows and grasslands of Scotland. The boxes and labels were made using discarded meadow cuttings, and the photography on the packaging was taken by Mary McCartney. Pairing bourbon casks with sherry-seasoned oak gives a brighter, more floral whisky than many Macallan releases. Like the earlier editions it is a non-vintage release with no age statement, so the focus is on cask selection and flavour rather than years in wood.
Serve it neat or with a drop of water, or over a single cube of ice. It pairs well with a lemon tart, fresh melon or a mild, creamy cheese.

Expect rich citrus, honeysuckle and vanilla on the nose. The palate brings oak, melon and green tea, and the finish is rich, sweet and layered.
