Description
1792 Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a sophisticated and complex spirit produced at the historic Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky—the oldest fully-operating distillery in the heart of Bourbon Country. As the flagship expression of the 1792 lineup, this small batch bourbon is meticulously crafted from a signature “high rye” mash bill (reportedly 75% corn, 15% rye, and 10% malted barley).
Production & Aging: Unlike standard mass-produced bourbons, 1792 Small Batch relies on the expertise of the Master Distiller, who carefully selects a limited number of barrels that have been aged on the top floors of the warehouses to reach peak maturity. These barrels are then “married” to create a consistent, bold, and elegant flavor profile. It is bottled at a robust 93.7 proof (46.85% ABV).
Tasting Profile: The nose opens with classic notes of vanilla, butterscotch, and deep seasoned oak, accented by hints of dark cherries and toasted nuts. The palate is full-bodied and smooth, delivering a distinctive blend of sweet caramel, clove, and cinnamon spice, followed by a gentle peppery bite from the rye. The finish is long, warm, and lingering with notes of caramelized sugar, dark chocolate, and spicy oak.
Recognition: This bourbon has received critical acclaim, notably being named “Best Kentucky Small Batch Bourbon” at the 2025 World Whiskies Awards, along with gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
